Have you ever
wished for a third arm to hold your bow while travelling the backwoods on an
ATV? Are you less than impressed with your current bow holder?
Bows are fairly cumbersome by nature, especially when carried
amongst a bunch of other gear on your ATV. And let's face it - they're
not cheap.
The average
hunting bow
complete with
all the
necessities will
nowadays cost
between $1000
and $1500, with
many setups
exceeding $2000.
If you've been
searching for a
better way to
transport your
weapon on a
four-wheeler
and, at the same
time, protect
your investment,
consider one of
the two brackets
described below
to mount your
Bowkaddy.
Original
ATV Bracket -
Simple, Reliable
and Practical
This bracket has
been around as
long as Bowkaddy
because it works
so well on ATV's
with metal racks
and has had only
minor design
tweaks over the
years. The
bracket works
best on ATV
racks that are
tubular (Honda,
Kawasaki,
Suzuki, etc.),
but channel
racks found on
some brands (ie.
Yamaha) are also
compatible with
this bracket.
And while most
bowhunters
prefer to mount
the bow on the
front rack, the
rear rack is
also an option
when available.
This
anodized aluminum bracket fastens non-intrusively to parallel members
of the ATV rack that are less than about 7" apart. There's
only one rubber-coated J-bolt used to secure it to the rack which
makes for very quick detachment/reattachment, all without tools.
Simply loosen the wing nut and presto - bow rack off, deer rack on!
There are also rubber linings on the curved sections of the bracket
to further dampen vibration and prevent undue wear and tear on your
ATV rack.
When installed on an
ATV, Bowkaddy can be tilted upward, opening up additional storage
space on your rack for other gear such as duffel bags, rifle racks, clothing,
etc. Some ATV models can actually incorporate 2 ATV Brackets
for tandem transport!
The ATV Bracket has an effective reach of about 8
inches, so if your tube spacing is greater than that, such as with
the Yamaha Grizzly ATV's made over the last few years, I might
recommend considering the Double Bar UTV Bracket
instead of the ATV
Bracket.
PAC
Bracket
If you don't have a metal ATV rack, then
you probably have a composite or hybrid one. Polaris quads
have always had a purely composite rack, and other companies have
added
composite tops to their racks in recent years, including Can Am and Arctic Cat.
They are also incorporating unique accessory quick-detach systems,
which as explained above, is a product virtue. This has led to
the creation of Alaris Concepts' 10th product offering - the PAC
Bracket.
The name is derived from the product's
ability to align with the following quick-detach mechanisms:
Polaris Lock & Ride
Arctic Cat Speed Lock
Can Am LINQ
This powder-coated steel bracket works
on select models with the proper fastener spacing, so be sure to
inquire if you are unsure. Note as well that the individual
fasteners are not offered by Alaris Concepts. You will need to
pick these up at your local off-road shop. If this bracket is
compatible with your machine, you won't be disappointed. Just
ask Neil Bear from Pennsylvania who prompted Alaris Concepts to step
up to the plate (-bending machine)! :)
"I did a lot of research on bow mounts and just couldn't find the one
for me. So I called Bowkaddy which had the mount I wanted for the
bow but I questioned about possibly making a quick detach for (the
Can Am) Linq system. They said absolutely will customize one for you! I was blown away. Most companies would never take the time to do that for you. A few weeks later I received a prototype and it's perfect! 100% happy and now have the best bow holder for my ATV that money can buy, not to mention the finest customer service out there. Thank you!"
